What is PayID?
How do I make a PayID payment with pay.com.au?
Are there payment limits with PayID?
Why can't I use PayID?
PayID is not available for all payment types. You won't be able to use PayID if your payment:
- Is a scheduled payment
- Is a recurring payment
- Requires authorisation (e.g. via custom authorisation rules, or because you are an Operator)
Why was my payment not remitted same day?
Same-day processing requires that your payment is authorised and funds are transferred to your PayID before 2pm AET (Sydney/Melbourne), Monday to Friday. Payments submitted or funded after 2pm are processed the next business day.
Some banks also hold the first payment to a new PayID for up to 24 hours — if this happens, the payment will be remitted the next business day. See cut-off times.
My bank held my PayID payment — when will it be remitted?
Some banks hold the first PayID payment to a new PayID. If this happened, your payment will be remitted the next business day.
If it happens after your first payment, contact your bank directly — this is a bank-side hold, not a pay.com.au issue.
Why was my PayID payment cancelled?
If we don't receive the correct amount and reference to your PayID within 25 hours, we'll cancel the payment and send you an email notification. You'll need to create the payment again with a new reference.
Note: some banks hold the first payment to a new PayID for 24 hours or longer. If your transfer isn't received within 25 hours as a result, the payment will be cancelled. Contact your bank to check the status of your transfer.
Why was my PayID payment refunded?
If your PayID payment is refunded, you'll receive an email confirmation. Funds are typically returned to your account within one hour.
Common reasons for a refund:
- You transferred to the wrong PayID email — check the address and try again
- You transferred the wrong amount — check the amount and try again
- The reference was missing, incorrect, or had extra characters — check the reference and try again
