What is PayID?

PayID is a fast, secure way to send and receive payments using a simple identifier like an email address or phone number instead of traditional bank details. It’s linked to your bank account, enabling real-time transfers that typically settle on the same day, making payments quicker and easier.

Are there payment limits with PayID?

Yes. Your PayID payments are subject to the daily transfer limits set by your bank. These limits vary depending on your bank and account type. If you need to increase your payment limits, you can usually do this directly through your online banking or by contacting your bank’s customer service. Keep in mind that pay.com.au does not control these limits - they are set by your financial institution.

Why can’t I use PayID?

PayID is not available for all payments, you will not be able to use PayID if your payment:

  • Is a scheduled payment

  • Is a recurring payment

  • Needs to be authorised

    • Either via custom authorisation rules or because you are an Operator

Why was my payment not remitted same day?

If you submitted your payment after 2pm, or we didn’t receive the funds in your PayID before 2pm - the payment will be processed on the next business day. See here for more information on cut off times.

Some banks will hold the first payment made to a new PayID for 24 hours, if this occurs your payment will be remitted next business day.

Why was my PayID payment cancelled?

If we don’t receive the correct amount and reference to your PayID within 25 hours, we will cancel the PayID payment in pay.com.au. You will need to create the payment again and generate a new reference for the payment if you still wish to make it via PayID.

Why was my PayID payment refunded?

Your PayID payment could be refunded for a couple of reasons

  • You transferred to the wrong PayID email address - make sure the email is correct before trying again

  • You transferred the wrong amount - make sure the amount is correct and try again

  • You didn’t include the reference or keyed in the wrong reference - make sure the reference is correct and try again

My bank held my PayID payment, when will my payment be remitted?

Some banks may hold the first PayID payment to a new PayID. If this occurs, your payment will be remitted next day.

This should not happen after your first PayID payment, if it does, please contact your bank for support.
