Get Paid
When you link your Get Paid bank account to a third-party platform, that platform may send one or more small test deposits to confirm your account details are correct. These are called micro-deposits.
This article explains how micro-deposits appear in your pay.com.au account and what to do when you receive one.
Quick answer: A sub-$1.00 transaction showing as Unsettled in your Incoming transactions list is expected — it's not an error. Payments under $1.00 are received by pay.com.au but are not passed through to your settlement account.
What is a micro-deposit?
A micro-deposit is a small test payment — typically a few cents — sent by a platform to confirm that a bank account is valid and active. Some platforms use this as part of their verification process when you add or update your payout details.
Whether any action is required depends on the platform.
How micro-deposits appear in pay.com.au
Payments under $1.00 are received by pay.com.au but are not passed through to your settlement account. They are also too small to earn PayRewards Points.
When a micro-deposit arrives, it will appear in Payments > Incoming transactions with the following details:
| Field | What you'll see |
|---|---|
| Amount | The exact amount sent by the platform (e.g. $0.01) |
| Status | Unsettled |
| Description | The platform or sender name |
Unsettled doesn't mean something went wrong. An Unsettled status on a sub-$1.00 transaction is expected behaviour. The micro-deposit has been received successfully by pay.com.au.
What to do when you receive a micro-deposit
- Note the amount. Go to Payments > Incoming transactions in your pay.com.au account and locate the micro-deposit. Note the exact amount — you may need to enter this back into the platform that sent it.
- Check whether the platform needs you to confirm the amount. Some platforms (such as eBay) will ask you to enter the micro-deposit amount to complete verification. Others do it automatically with no action required. Check the platform's instructions.
- Complete verification on the platform. Enter the exact amount shown in your pay.com.au Incoming transactions list (if prompted). Once confirmed, payouts to your Get Paid account will be enabled on that platform.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the micro-deposit show as Unsettled?
Payments under $1.00 are not passed through to your settlement account because they are too small to earn PayRewards Points. The Unsettled status confirms the payment was received — it does not mean anything has gone wrong.
Will I receive the micro-deposit funds in my settlement account?
No. Sub-$1.00 payments are not settled to your nominated bank account. The amount remains in pay.com.au and is not passed through.
Does this affect my PayRewards Points balance?
No. Micro-deposits do not earn PayRewards Points and do not affect your Points balance in any way.
What if I can't see the micro-deposit in my Incoming transactions?
Micro-deposits can take 1–2 business days to arrive from the sending platform. If you've waited 2 business days and still can't see the transaction, check that your Get Paid BSB and account number are entered correctly in the platform. If the details are correct and the deposit still hasn't arrived, contact the pay.com.au support team.
What if the platform is asking for the amount but I missed it?
The transaction won't disappear. Log in to pay.com.au, go to Payments > Incoming transactions, and find the Unsettled transaction to get the exact amount.
Can I receive more than one micro-deposit?
Yes. Some platforms send two micro-deposits as part of their verification process. Each will appear as a separate Unsettled transaction in your Incoming transactions list.
Do I need to do anything in pay.com.au after the micro-deposit arrives?
No. Once you've noted the amount and completed verification on the platform, no further action is needed in pay.com.au.
