Yes — PayRewards Points expire after 18 months of no activity. The clock resets each time you do something with your points. It does not reset just because you make payments through pay.com.au.
What counts as activity?
Any of the following will reset your 18-month expiry window:
- 1 Earning points — making a payment with PayRewards enabled (1pt or 2pt tier selected)
- 2 Redeeming points — using points for a gift card, invoice payment, travel booking, or custom redemption
- 3 Transferring points to a partner — converting to any airline or hotel loyalty program
- 4 Transferring points to a member — sending points to a family member, colleague, or associate
If you process payments through pay.com.au but have PayRewards disabled for those payments, your points balance is not considered active. Expiry continues to count down regardless of your payment volume.
Accounts with multiple businesses
PayRewards Points are held in the name of the account owner, not the individual business. If you own multiple business accounts on pay.com.au, your points balance is shared across all of them. A single qualifying activity on any account resets the clock for your entire balance.
If points are held by a different account owner — for example, a co-director listed on a separate ABN — their balance has its own independent 18-month window.
What happens when points expire?
Expired points are removed from your balance. There is no automatic reinstatement or grace period. If you think points have expired incorrectly — for example, if you completed a qualifying activity close to the expiry date — contact our support team with your account details and the approximate date of the activity.
Reach out via live chat or call 1300 241 723. Have your account details ready and let the team know the approximate date of the activity you believe should have reset your clock.
How to keep your points active
If you have a large balance you are not ready to redeem, the simplest way to keep it active is to make at least one payment per year with PayRewards enabled — or transfer a small number of points to any airline or hotel partner. Either action resets the 18-month window from that date.
