Why does my business need to be verified?

We are required by regulators to meet certain KYC (Know Your Customer) standards.

This includes collecting and verifying information about the people and businesses that use our services.

General information

During onboarding, you will be asked to provide information about your business, such as:

  • The industry you operate in
  • A description of the goods or services you provide
  • Your website(s) (if applicable)
  • Your business revenue
  • Your business address
  • The types of payments you expect to manage with pay.com.au

Entity specific documentation

The business documents we are required to verify will depend on your business type.

Individual / Sole Traders

If you're opening an account as a sole trader, you will need to provide:

  • your personal ID
Australian Companies

If you're opening an account for your company, you may need to provide:

  • a personal ID of all beneficial owners (UBO)
  • For any owner that is not an individual, the required documents for that business
Australian Trusts

If you're opening an account as a trust, you will need to provide:

  • a copy of the signed and executed trust deed
  • For any trustee that is an individual, a personal ID
  • For any partner that is not an individual, the required documents for that business
Australian Partnerships

If you're opening an account as a partnership, you will need to provide:

  • a copy of the signed and executed partnership agreement
  • For any business partner that is an individual, a personal ID
  • For any partner that is not an individual, the required documents for that business
