Our regulatory obligations require us to verify the identity of our users, but how we verify your identity depends on how you're using pay.com.au.
When you open an account
When opening an account, we use Incode to verify your identity. We compare a photo of your government-issued ID to a selfie, to ensure that someone else is not using your details to open an account.
You'll need to use an Australian driver's license or passport, or a foreign passport with a valid Australian Visa.
Follow the prompts while verifying your identity, but to ensure we have clear enough photos to verify you, keep the following tips in mind:
- Hold the camera parallel to your face and ID, avoiding angled photos.
- Please avoid glares, shadows or using flash.
- Do your best to capture in-focus images.
- Take the photos in a room with good, even lighting.
- Ensure any text on transperant sections is readable.
- Avoid having anything in the foreground or background of your photos.
When you're invited to an account
If you've been invited the someone else's account and have a role that enables you to authorise payments, then we are required to verify your identity.
When you log in or register, you'll be asked to provide details from a government-issued ID such as an Australian driver's license or passport, a medicare card, or a foreign passport with a valid Australian Visa.
