Additional 3DS Verification - FAQs

Why do I need to complete additional authentication on my payment?

As part of our ongoing commitment to security and making payments safer, we have added a 3D Secure (3DS) check to some card payments. This helps to protect your business against fraudulent activity and verifies that the person making the payment is authorised by the cardholder to do so.

What do I need to do?

If your payment requires a 3DS check, you will see a screen at the end of the Make a Payment process with information from your card issuing bank. You will likely need to enter a code sent via text or from your banking app and confirm to complete the payment.

If you cancel or exit the 3DS check, your payment will be cancelled and you will need to enter in all of the details again.

I failed the authentication check, what do I need to do to process the payment?

If you failed the check due to a timeout or incorrectly entering the code, you will need to enter the details in for the payment again.

If you correctly entered the code, didn’t time out and still failed - you should reach out to your bank.

What is 3D Secure (3DS)?

3D Secure is a technical standard that adds a layer of security to online credit and debit card transactions. 3D Secure deters unauthorised card use and helps you to reduce fraudulent activity and chargebacks.
